How to Print with Alexa from Canon Printer

how to print with alexa from canon printer, canon id account, cloud printing,

How does simply using voice commands to print from your Canon printer sound? It probably sounds interesting to you. Alexa enables you to do that.

The possibility of merely speaking and getting your printer to perform some tasks might have seemed impossible to most people many years ago. But, thanks to the Amazon virtual assistant and similar ones, this is now very much possible.

You will find in this article steps you can take to print with Alexa from your Canon printer with ease.

Setting Up to Print

Obviously, you are going to need an Amazon Alexa device to be able to use the virtual assistant to print from your printer. If you don’t such, you can download and install the Alexa app from your app store, if you use an Android or iOS device.

Once the above requirement is met, you can proceed as follow to set up to be able to print with Alexa from your Canon printer:

  • Turn on your machine, if you haven’t already, and load it with letter size or A4 plain paper.

  • Launch the Alexa app on your device and search for ‘Canon printer’ or ‘Canon inkjet printer.’

  • Tap the Canon printer skill from the search results and then click on ‘Enable.’

  • Sign in to Canon’s cloud-based printing service, if you already have an account. Otherwise, click on ‘Create a Canon ID account’ and follow the on-screen instructions to get your Canon ID account. You can sign up using your email, Google account or Facebook account.

Note that you are going to need your printer registration ID, if you are just creating a Canon ID account. On some models, you can easily get this by selecting Setup on the home screen or panel of the machine; navigating to Web service setup > Connection setup > IJ Cloud Printing Center setup > Register with this service, and following on-screen instructions to print out your printer registration ID.

  • After successfully setting up your Canon ID account, sign in with your email and password.

  • Tap on the Allow button when the app displays a screen requesting for permission to access your printer. With that done, you are now ready to print with Alexa from your Canon printer.

Controlling Your Printer with Alexa

You can print diverse types of content from your Canon printer using Amazon’s virtual assistant. These include checklists, colouring pages and notebook paper, amongst others. All you need to do is start with the phrase. ‘Alexa, ask Canon printer to.’ For example, to print colouring pages, say: ‘Alexa, ask Canon printer to print colouring pages.’

Before proceeding, however, you may first need to say, ‘Alexa, start Canon printer.’

Printing isn’t the only thing you can do hands-free with the aid of this digital assistant on your machine. It also enables you perform certain other printer-related tasks, including checking ink status, using your voice.

Alexa will ask you some questions if it needs more information after you issue a command.

It is important to note that Alexa only interacts with the printer you set as default in your account on Canon’s Cloud Printing service.
